About KidSkills

Where did this little company come from?

About KidSkills

Several years ago, I noticed that kids were not learning to cook and create on their own. Television, video games, day cares, and other changes to our culture had taken kids out of the kitchen and their yard or neighborhood and away from learning the life skills they will someday need. To help kids get reconnected (or to just connect) with the skills we used to learn by hanging around with Mom and Dad, I created KidSkills. We teach a variety of courses for kids that encourage exploration and, in the process, empower each kid to become an even greater kid!

UPDATES

7/15/10 - Austin's Best Idea is now available through retail and library distributors so it can be ordered from any book store!  We are working on a new e-zine due out in November that's packed with information for parents of "tweens" and the kids too! Lots of fun facts, some articles and lots of special content we don't want to reveal just yet. Stay tuned!

9-30-09 - Austin's Best Idea Ever will be available in late October. Check here for opportunities to purchase it. Once we have the book out, we can refocus our energy on more kids classes!

7/1/09 - I've been working on a new book and it's about to be published! Look for our new online store with kitchen gadgets tested by kids and our first book - Austin's Best Idea Ever. I'm excited to bring you some new and exciting products!

Our Course Offerings:

Learn to Cook: Cooking meals, making soup, healthy snacks, and other foods have been topics of past course offerings.

Writing Seminars offer kids the opportunity to write from prompts, create stories or free write.

Construction Seminars include knot tying (a kid favorite), room organizing, building simple structures - kids love it!

Craft Classes: Working with a variety of art and craft supplies, kids find a rewarding way to express themselves.

Gardening: Growing plants is a rewarding hobby for many people. Kids love to grow things they can eat.

KidSkills encourages kids to be active and healthy. We currently have not developed our physical activity classes.

Customized Course Offerings: In addition to my current course offerings, I will tailor a class or seminar to the needs of a particular school, teacher, or group of students.
